Courtney Newberry is a graduate of the Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. She is a member in good standing of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Louisiana Bar Foundation. Courtney is also currently enrolled in the PhD program at the University of New Orleans, pursuing her doctorate of Philosophy in Justice Studies.
Courtney is a retired firefighter-paramedic as well as a former nurse,. In her former life, Courtney has also been a barista, bartender, cocktail waitress, stay-at-home mom, group fitness instructor, kickboxing instructor, a vacuum cleaner salesperson, and a retail manager for the Gap and Old Navy. She is also a wife of nearly 25 years, a devoted mother to two adult children (both of whom are in college), and a fur mom to five dogs and four cats. While she hasn’t always been an attorney, she has always aspired to be one!
With a deep and innate sense of Justice, and a keen knowledge of the law AND of what is right and wrong, Courtney also understands the importance of affordable legal representation. She possesses a strong grasp of the law, a strong obsession with procedure, and an unwavering desire to ensure justice is served. The result is a seasoned human being dedicated to providing her clients with the most robust representation and striving to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Courtney has witnessed first-hand the havoc mass incarceration, systemic racism, widespread oppression, and poverty wreak on society and on the family members who are forced to soldier on when someone they love becomes ensnared in the criminal legal system. Courtney knows that we can do better and it is precisely this conviction that has driven Courtney to revolutionize the legal profession.
Courtney believes that the most dangerous phrase in the English language is, "that's the way it's always been done," because Courtney knows that something's longevity doesn’t necessarily equate to its correctness or justness.
